Hi, I’m Karenita!

My profession goes by many names—editor, journalist, (copy)writer, sometimes contributor—and this multitude is precisely what I love about it.

Over the past few years, I’ve explored various genres, among them news, feature stories, interviews, brand copy (including collection, campaign, website and product copy), and advertorial pieces. My writing (so far) spans fashion, film, beauty, art and design, and often observes from a perspective of culture. Not the intellectualised kind, but the one hiding in the everyday—in who we are and what we enjoy, both individually and collectively.

Currently, I write in both English and my native language, German. Having written for and about various brands—from local retailers to top tier luxury conglomerates—I have developed a keen sense for conceptual thinking and transferring a brand’s identity into text, inlcuding strategic selection of angles and tone of voice.

Some of my first print pieces formed a trilogy on perfumes. Somewhere between the lines that conveyed memories and visions encapsulated in fragrances, and the descriptions required to express them convincingly, I found my preferred tone of voice: a descriptive, detailed and sometimes personal one, one that embraces visual and figurative language, and one that leverages emotion to tell a story.
